Alexander Fleming
invented penicillin.
Did it not occur to the medicinal man
that there was a slight chink in his master-plan?
A cure to common maladies
can actually cause allergies.
It happened to my son.
His skin, blotched, itchy.
Honestly, I am not trying to be bitchy.
Listen to the girl next door,
any man or woman on the street.
Sure they will have a tale to tell,
a lesson learnt.
Even magnificent medicine men like Fleming
are not beyond blemish.
But that is another alternative history lesson.
God bless the doctors, the nurses, scientific researchers.
Let’s get rid of the curses, illnesses, allergies.
May good come from science, like it mainly has done.
Then the fight is over, the battle won.
