Just takes a second

Just takes a second

to form a smile.

Just takes a second

to say hello.

Just takes a second

to take a deep breath,

step back before you speak.

Just takes a second

to fall asleep.

Just takes a second

to score a goal.

Or do your own,

dig yourself into a hole.

Just takes a second

like night and day

to switch the light off or on

and drives those worries away.

Just takes a second to choose

the spinning die, to win or lose.

There might be fewer answers than questions.

More obstacles than paths to freedom.

Just takes a second to stop the loop,

break the cycle, run through that hoop,

the gates are open wide, to release the chain,

to smile, to cherish, live again.

So take those arms open wide,

have that hug with your child,

just takes a second to open your eyes

to the new day and Earth where heaven resides.
