People Watchers

The people watchers walk this way.

Seeing coffees grands and Beaujolais.

Sipping, supping, wining and dining.

Some are even social climbing.

Fun and games and relaxation.

People watchers see the nation

drifting by,

in cafes, pubs, even the sky.

On aeroplanes, trains, buses and bicycles.

even underwater submarines, if that is the way we are going.

Out of space

and the rat race.

Sucking up the sublime.

Dancing in time

with tuneful titillation.

Radio on, rejuvenation.

For how would we cope,

without rum and coke?

Gin, wine, beer and ice cream

during a conversational wet dream.

The people watchers see the dance, join in

this nostalgic romance with destiny.

Keeps us ticking over,

not always four leaf clovers

in this world. Salute the people watchers

and those who smile and laugh with them

in this cracked and crazy world that we are all living in.
