The Poetry Ferrets

A poem with a bit of humour.

The Poetry Ferrets

They came to stay.
On an unknown place
called Poets Bay.
One evening they had a hike
to a beachside open mic.
A certain ferret was called Caroline Fluffy,
though her performance was somewhat muffly
against a backdrop of poetry pews.
Barely an outsider came into view.
Though the poetry ferrets were a friendly crew.
They scattered through regions and towns,
then finally settled back down on Poets Bay.
Their Poet Laureate made the final foray.
He ruffled up his proud ferret suit.
Though the applause was sadly somewhat mute.
By those natives who were very restless.
The ferrets were filled with poetry pride.
One young ferret, his heart open wide,
stole the show on Poets Bay.
There was joy and laughter until the next day.
When the musical chipmunks came to play.
